ib vogt and Apple sign PPA for 105 MWac Solar Capacity in Spain

International renewable energy development platform ib vogt has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple to provide solar power with a capacity of 105 MWac from a project in the province of Segovia, Spain. The PV plant, also known as Castaño Solar, is one of three projects with pay-as-produced fixed price PPAs that ib vogt is currently constructing in the province and is expected to be fully operational in December of 2024. ib vogt is committed to creating a lasting, positive social and environmental impact on the region, supporting companies like Apple to reach their sustainability goals and net zero emissions.

ib vogt is executing a number of conservation initiatives in the development of this solar farm to ensure that the work aligns with environmental protection efforts. These initiatives include reforestation efforts for local flora and fauna within the perimeter of the solar plant, the installation of nesting boxes for native birds and the provision of a protected habitat with an area of at least 10 ha. Work will also be halted during the breeding season to ensure construction does not impact wildlife. Further, a thorough monitoring of all earthworks will be maintained to prevent any negative impact.

The project with a peak capacity of 134 MWp will use state of the art bifacial solar panels on a single-axis tracker system to maximise energy production. The electricity generated annually by the solar plant is estimated to save up to 57,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly.

ib vogt is providing full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services and will provide Operations & Maintenance (O&M) once the project is completed.
