Commercial Director

  • Main Responsibilities:
    • Supporting the Development Director on economic feasibility for new site screening.
    • Acting as a local gatekeeper for projects from lead to pipeline, recommending projects for investment to the board.
    • Managing the local financial model for each project.
    • Taking commercial decisions on forecasting for all relevant inputs (capex, OpEx, local power market, hurdle rates, debt rates etc.) and critically access the ongoing viability of projects.
    • Reporting to the Board on expected profitability on all projects based on regular forecast updates.
    • Local P&L responsibility for forecast setting and realisation on overall costs and revenue.
    • Reporting to the Board on key market changes and risk and staying up to date on all relevant legislative changes which impact ib Vogt’s investments in Australia.
    • Managing ib Vogt’s commercial risks in country.
    • Acting as the key point of contact with internal tax, legal (M&A and more broadly) and finance team.
    • Developing and implementing a market specific strategy for ib Vogt’s operations in Australia.
    • Developing and implementing project specific commercialisation plans and long-term resource planning to realise the strategy.
    • Leading and/or overseeing the M&A process.
    • Working with key local lenders, EPCs, advisors and PPA providers as required for successful project commercialization.
    • Managing the tax impact of local activities including commercialization.
    • Undertaking business development and reviewing new market opportunities (EOIs/Tenders/BESS/New capacity markets etc.).
    • Reviewing SPV and Branch/Topco financial reporting.
    • Building, developing, and managing key corporate relationships with Equity and Debt investors as well as PPA, EPC, NSP and regulatory bodies.

    • Overseeing resourcing and staffing and managing overheads with the Development Director.
    • Undertaking local appraisals and overseeing staff development with the Development Director.
    • Representing the company in industry forums and at events.

  • Required Experience and Competencies:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable commercial/development role for a renewables developer or investor.
    • Strong solar project development experience.
    • Experience leading sizeable teams of development professionals.
    • Technical understanding of solar photovoltaics and familiar with the process of procurement, construction and logistics of investment projects.
    • Experience undertaking solar farm development activities – permitting, landowner negotiations, stakeholder engagement, site design, energy yield, budgeting and scheduling and grid connection.
    • Experience undertaking due diligence for financing.
    • Experience leading SPA and contract negotiations.
    • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislative changes which impact ib vogt’s investments in Australia.
    Educational Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:
    • Academic degree in engineering or business.
    • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Ability to coordinate with internal teams and external clients and partners.
    • Willingness to travel.
