
Site Manager – Civil

Since 2009, ib vogt has commissioned plants with a capacity of almost 2 Gigawatt. We employ over 840 specialists, in all areas of the solar power plant value chain in over 40 countries. The company operates internationally from offices in Spain Germany, Italy, Netherlands, France, Poland, USA, Australia, United Kingdom, Panama, India and Southeast Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Execution:
Lead and manage all civil works on solar power project sites from initiation to completion.
Coordinate with the project manager to define project scope, schedule, and budget for civil works.
Develop and implement site-specific work plans, including timelines, manpower, equipment, and materials.
Ensure timely delivery of materials and resources to the site.
Supervise and manage subcontractors, construction teams, and vendors to execute civil activities as per the project plan.
Site Development & Execution:
Oversee all site preparation activities, including grading, excavation, foundation work, and the construction of civil structures such as mounting systems, cable trenches, and inverters.
Manage the execution of civil works, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Ensure that proper surveying, leveling, and site layout is completed according to project designs and specifications.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure quality control on all civil works, ensuring that work is completed as per approved drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor work progress, resolve issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
Prepare quality reports and ensure documentation of completed work is maintained accurately.
Oversee adherence to all local and international safety and environmental standards.
Team Management & Coordination:
Lead, motivate, and manage a team of engineers, supervisors, and laborers to execute civil works.
Coordinate with different teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of civil works with other project components.
Organize regular team meetings to discuss project progress, resolve issues, and update stakeholders on project status.
Budget & Resource Management:
Control and manage the civil works budget, ensuring efficient use of resources, controlling costs, and minimizing wastage.
Monitor resource allocation and make necessary adjustments to maintain project schedules and timelines.
Ensure proper management of materials, tools, and equipment on-site, keeping track of inventory and ensuring timely procurement.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and implement safety programs on-site.
Monitor safety practices on-site, identify potential hazards, and address issues proactively.
Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and inspections to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the main point of contact for all civil-related aspects of the project for both internal and external stakeholders.
Provide regular progress updates to project managers, clients, and senior management.
Liaise with local authorities, subcontractors, and other external parties to ensure smooth project execution.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare and submit periodic reports on project progress, civil works status, issues, and solutions.
Maintain detailed documentation on civil works, including change orders, work completion reports, and as-built drawings.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
Experience:
8-12 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years in the solar industry, including large-scale solar projects.
Proven track record of managing civil execution on solar power plants (both ground-mounted and rooftop).
Hands-on experience with civil works like site preparation, foundation construction, trenching, and installation of mounting systems for solar panels.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction techniques, especially for solar power plant projects.
Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and MS Office suite.
Expertise in managing the construction of solar mounting structures, cable trenches, inverters, and other site infrastructure.
Understanding of environmental and regulatory compliance related to solar energy projects.
